Transitions serves young adults ages 18-22 committed to changing their lives through Christian discipleship, employment training, and educational assistance. Transitions included a residential component where young adults lived together in a stable, supportive home environment led by staff and volunteers.
Over the last year, the ministry has been seeking God on what He would have us do with the future of our residential housing program. Although we are grateful for the many young people we were able to minister to over the last 11 years, our leadership team of staff and board of directors has unanimously decided to discontinue our housing program.
We are firmly committed, however, to continuing ministry to young adults and believe we can reach many more young adults with the gospel of Jesus Christ through our employment training at the coffee shop and future employment training endeavors. We believe that there will be many opportunities in the future for our volunteers to build mentoring relationships and teach life skills classes with the young adults in our employment training programs.
Going forward, young adults involved in Transitions will be employed from 6 months to 2 years in an employment training program at Freedom Blend Coffee learning soft skills in a supportive, Christ-centered environment. Young adults will also have the opporunity to take classes improving their job interviewing and resume building skills, receive assistance with budgeting and money management, develop professionalism, receive support completing their GED or high school diploma and/or college, and participate in Bible study.
If you would like to discuss further or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call our Executive Director, Mark, at (515) 282-4822 ext 22 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing how God will draw more young people to Himself and hope that you will continue to be a part of His work.
Ready To Get Involved
I volunteer at Freedom because I want every child to have the opportunity to hear about Jesus. I also want them to know there are adults that care about them and want to see them succeed. It is so rewarding to see them excited about being there and excited to learn!
